Sponsorship Project

Welcome to the website of the Oriental Orthodox Library. A small Orthodox publisher.

We provide a collection of Oriental Orthodox primary sources in English, as an online resource. But our main activity is in publishing these sources, as well as collections of other important documents, papers and articles, as books that can be held and read and studied.

This Library has been conceived to serve a variety of aims, and to support a variety of people.

i. To make the primary theological texts of the Oriental Orthodox Churches available in English, as well as useful scholarly papers and works by historic opponents of Oriental Orthodoxy.

ii. To support the spiritual and theological growth of faithful Orthodox among the Oriental Orthodox.

iii. To facilitate a mature and informed understanding of the Oriental Orthodox by members of other communities such as the Eastern Orthodox and the Roman Catholics.

Peter Farrington is the editor in chief of the Oriental Orthodox Library. He is a subdeacon in the British Orthodox Church, part of the Coptic Orthodox Patriarchate, and a member of a small Orthodox congregation in Kent, England.

He has been involved in small scale publishing of Orthodox texts since 1999, and the Oriental Orthodox Library is rooted in his own frustrations at the difficulties encountered while trying to locate important theological texts.

The Oriental Orthodox Library is sponsored by the British Orthodox Church, which is pleased to be able to support any activities which seek to make the Oriental Orthodox Churches better known. But the contents of each volume are the opinions of the authors concerned and do not necessarily represent the teaching of the British Orthodox Church or the Coptic Orthodox Patriarchate.

Indeed some volumes are composed by those who are considered heretics by the Oriental Orthodox communion, and are included for the benefit of research and study.
